Qualifications & Experience

I hold a Degree in Humanistic Counselling and a Diploma in EMDR, and I am committed to ongoing professional development through the BACP CPD.  With over 12 years of experience in practice, I bring depth, compassion, and professionalism to my work.

My background includes extensive experience  of Counselling staff within the NHS and the Ambulance service, giving me a strong understanding of trauma, crisis response, and the emotional impact of high-pressure environments.

I have worked with clients across the lifespan, from young people aged 10 through to adults aged 88, tailoring my approach to meet each individual’s needs and circumstances.

I have an in-depth understanding of mental health diagnoses and the complexities that can accompany them. My experience enables me to work confidently and sensitively with a wide range of presentations, supporting clients to better understand their difficulties while focusing on their strengths and resilience.

I am knowledgeable about CAMHS (Children and Adult Mental Health Services) and have supported children and adolescents facing a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges. Alongside my private practice, I have undertaken voluntary work, reflecting my commitment to accessible mental health support.

In addition to individual therapy, I offer couples therapy and online counselling sessions, providing flexible and accessible support. While my core training is humanistic and EMDR-based, I draw upon a range of counselling models to ensure therapy is integrative, responsive, and tailored to each client.

My aim is to provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space, along with confidentiality where clients can relax and feel heard, valued and understood

Being trained as a Humanistic therapist, I believe in the counsellor client relationship being key to the most fantastic outcomes!

We live in a world that demands quick solutions. When you are struggling with trauma or anxiety, you don’t want endless coping strategies that barely help,  you want real, lasting change. This is where EMDR and Counselling takes the front seat.

Trauma and Anxiety are the most common presenting issues, and they are also the areas where I see the most profound breakthroughs. There is nothing more powerful than witnessing someone who once felt trapped by fear begin to feel calm, Anxiety free and back in control of their life.

Anxiety can be relentless. It can steal your sleep, your confidence, your relationships, and your sense of safety. It is exhausting and, at times, overwhelming. But it is not permanent. You are not broken, and you are not destined to live under the shadow of fear.  

Through talk Therapy, EMDR protocols, Integrating other counselling / Healing recourses, You will be facing a more fulfilling life and engaging in things that you never felt possible before.

 

Mental Health or Neurodiversity Diagnosis's 

Receiving a mental health or neurodiversity diagnosis can feel overwhelming. For some, it may feel like a powerful label  as though something that suddenly defines you or casts a shadow over your future. It can bring relief, confusion, and fear. If you are struggling to make sense of a diagnosis, you do not have to navigate that process alone.

I have extensive knowledge and understanding of secondary mental health services, along with the experience and skills to help you process what a diagnosis means for you personally. Together, we can explore your thoughts and feelings around it, separating the label from your identity and helping you regain a sense of clarity and control.

Think of it like this -'A diagnosis does not define you! it is information, not limitation'. 

My aim is always the same: I do not want you to feel ruled by worry or uncertainty. I want you to feel informed and empowered and most of all in control of your life.

I aim to equip you with practical, effective tools to manage anxious thoughts and calm your nervous system. I integrate meditation techniques into my work — and yes, even my teenage clients genuinely engage with them! (well sometimes!) These tools empower you between sessions, helping you build resilience and confidence in your own ability to cope.

In todays world there are so many stresses, often couples find it difficult to navigate issues and feel pressure of work, life and general everyday issues.

I give you the space to work things out, to listen to each over and be honest without judgement. 

With extensive experience and knowledge with couples, groups, parents and children and full or extended families I can help you navigate your issues and problems. Helping you to live happy and fulfilling lives together.
